girlgamers | An introduction, of sorts.

I started in Cyberpunk 2020, Stormbringer 2nd edition, and DC Heroes (2nd edition, I think).

I have played a lot of games since then, and am currently out of RPGs due to lack of a group.

MMORPGs are limited to City of Heroes currently, but I'm eying DC's online game.

I'd make a longer post, but on my way back to work...

I got into video games when I was 8 and my father bought a Nintendo; I've been playign video games since then. I prefer RPGs, and love Final Fantasy.

I got into tabletop/LARP gaming in 2000 when I went to university, and my favourites in that realm are Demon: the Fallen, Mage: the Sorcerer's Crusade, Exalted, and Changeling: the Lost.

I got into videogaming when my mum bought me a NES ages ago.

These days though I like gaming on my Nintendo DS. My favorite games are RPGs, stuff like Final Fantasy and Pokémon. Right now, I'm playing through Magical Starsign.

Well I started Old School. Played my first D&D campaign when I was 8 (actually it was AD&D) and still play when I can find people to game with. My first games (and still old favourites) were the Eye of the Beholder series and Civilisation. I'm still hooked on EoB even though I have to play it in DosBox (which on VISTA is a pain). I mostly love fantasy RPGs like Neverwinter Nights, Guild Wars, Sacred 2, etc, but occasionally dabble in turn-based strategy games like Civilization or real time strategies like Age of Empires.

I was pretty behind the times with consoles, but I have a shiny xBox 360 now and am addicted to Lips, Guitar Hero, Oblivion, Naruto, Fable II, Assassin's Creed.

Computer:

Zangband and Nethack. Less so, Dwarvern Fortress.

Civilisation 1 and 2, Sims, Various Total Warfare, Europa Universalis (pretty, pretty game)
(Note the above are all *old*, there are disadvantages to always using a laptop)

Bejewelled, Popcap games, Big Fish games, flash games. Reach for the Stars, Bards Tale (both C64 games) Clouds of Xeen (DOS)

Dungeons and Dragons 3.0, 3.5, White Wolf games (esp. V:tM although I think I may have outgrown it now). Paranoia. Cyberpunk 2020

Citadel. Talisman. Chez Geek. Munchkin.

I'm very "old school" as someone said above. I'm always behind the curve on console games. We have an Xbox and and Playstation (and maybe a SuperNintendo that I avoid because the controllers are wonky). I've enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 5, anything with Spyro (I'm such a kid inside sometimes), the Star Wars Battlefront, and Xenogears.

On computer, I love Age of Kings (one of the Age of Empires games), anything Sims, and I only RP a lot. I play and tentatively try to run tabletop RPs. I'm currently in a Delta Green campaign, a Mage campaign and a really weird Star Wars one (all run by my boyfriend at the moment).

Other than that, I'm Sam. Too old to like admitting her age, but happy with her boyfriend and cat all the same.

I started gaming pretty young, and my first gaming memories are of watching my mom Frogger (not sure if it was a plug and play sort of thing or a console).

My first real foray into gaming was the Sega Megadrive, and I spent years playing and re-playing games like Alisia Dragoon, Talesin's Adventure, and the first four Sonic games. The first real 3-D game I ever played was Spyro the Dragon and I remember being completely blown away by it.

Nowadays I play a little bit of everything, but I'm mainly into the survival horror genre, being very much in love with games like Clock Tower, Silent Hill, Haunting Ground and Fatal Frame, as well as a few oddities like Ghosthunter and Gregory Horror Show. I've just started dipping into the Resident Evil series, starting with Code Veronica: X, and from what I've seen so far, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the earlier games.

Like some people here, I'm slightly behind in terms of consoles. I used to own an XBOX 360, but I've been sticking pretty religiously to my PS2 for years and I'm currently trying to collect as many hidden gems as I possibly can.

Oh, and sorry for the rambling.

My neighbor/friend got me into gaming when I was about 10 or 11. We played Chrono Cross and it was epic! I've never been great at games (I use the guides) but I have a lot of fun playing them.
My favorite games are Final Fantasy X, RE3 (I've never gotten far, though - Nemesis scared meee), Silent Hill, DYNASTY WARRIORS!, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Pokémon and other similar games.
I have only had a Playstation, PS2 and Game Boy Color. I hope to soon own a DS or DSi :)

Hi hi! I'm Sian, and I've been gaming.... since forever. Really since I could type out commands on the old DOS computer. God, I miss those games. We also had an old school Atari system. And the infamous E.T game. It's all still around here somewhere.

Then I got my first Game Boy when I was about eight or nine, which I used to sneak to school in my lunchbox, right next to my copy of Jurassic Park.

We also had a SNES, a Gamecube, and a PS2. Currently, we (we being my mother, brother, and I) have and use a Wii, and the XBox 360. Though the Gamecube has found its way into my room. How else am I going to play Skies of Arcadia?

On the XBox, I'm currently working my way through Legendary, and Assassin's Creed. I tried RE5, but got scared. My brother STILL laughs about that. And on the Wii, I love playing Harvest Moon (well, I'm a sucker for ALL the Harvest Moon games, I have almost all of them) and the first Raving Rabbids.

My favorite games are Skies of Arcadia, Donkey Kong Country, both Star Wars Battlefronts, all the Harvest Moon games, and any version of Tetris. I can also kick some butt at Halo 3.

Hi, I'm Oshi. I started getting into gaming when I was little with the Super Nintendo and game "Widget". Super Mario World came shortly after, of course, and I never turned back. I got my hands on a Playstation a few years after they were released, and started getting into RPG's. JRPG's specifically. Final Fantasy VIII is still one of my favorite games, even though I had to replay it numerous times due to corrupted data just to get to the end boss.

I guess currently I'm more interested in table-top gaming than electronic gaming. Dungeons and Dragons is a major hobby of mine, and takes up a nice chunk of my free time because I'm the dungeon master, and have to plan all of the adventures. I don't own any of the current generation systems, but I've been meaning to get my hands on a PS3 for a while now. I play on my boyfriends whenever we're together. My current favorite games for it are Valkyria Chronicles and Resident Evil 5. I've also got a guilty pleasure for Little Big Planet. Heh...

So, yes. I'm Lina [or more commonly known as Lexie/Lexus], and I'm a gaming addict.

I am not looking for treatment though. :]

Anyway, I started gaming back when I was a wee dependent leeching off my parents' paychecks and had a big brother who got a Nintendo for Christmas. And I've gamed ever since. On and off (mostly off), but I can't live without games. It's true.

And some of my fondest memories as a child is being stuck at some random person's house because Daddy was playing D&D with them. I got to know all the cool kids of the cool D&D people, and some of them had dogs, even! It was fun times.

I love RPGs (and RPGs, and more RPGs), and will always be one of those people buying Final Fantasy games. Or Disgaea or Shin Megami Tensei's Persona line, at the very least. And I'm finally going to get myself a PS3, I hope, with my tax return ♥ Yay. Xenosaga is awesome and I'm currently playing through all three. I also play dating sims, because them boys are just so pretty. I'm not as big a fan of visual novels, though... Otometeki Koi Kakumei and Tokimeki are the two I actually actively enjoy and replay often. ♥

Um, and that's about all I can think of to ramble on about.

Another old-school here. I started playing AD&D in high school. I've played a couple campaigns in 3rd edition, and am now playing a 3rd level dragonborn cleric in a 4th edition campaign.

I've played: D&D, Traveller, Mage, most of the Fluxx games, Killer Bunnies, Gloom, several Munchkin games, Settlers of Catan and Illuminati.

My first game system was a sega megadrive when I was like erm...8 or something and I was well into all the old disney games like Alladin and the Lion King - embarrasing i know.
Since then I've gotten more and more into gaming and have owned all sorts (Playstation 1, 2 and 3 - PSP - Gameboy advance - wii...) am a playstation girl at heart and am very very VERY into my survival horrors - resident evil and silent hill are my particular favourites though I am partial to a bit of Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry etc etc. I spend a lot of time with my other half playing games - we're replaying DMC4 at the moment, I'm part way through Metal Gear 4 and we've recently started a pro runthrough on Resi 5

OK, I'm not sure whether I'm a gamer or a person who plays games, but I mostly think that's a silly distinction. So!

-MYST. RIVEN. (ehh, and I guess the rest of the series too ;) ) These games are what got me interested in computers; their fandom is what got me started on the internet. (I even started a myst comm on dreamwidth, to be sneakily spammy :p)

-Other point-and-click adventure games, to a lesser extent; flash room escape games are a recent obsession (there are hundreds of them out there on the internets!). I keep meaning to play through more highly-rated text adventure games, but I'm a visual person and tend to miss the eyecandy.

-I like the Zelda games and Katamari, but I don't own a console

-Kingdom of Loathing! I'm a ridiculous Level 24 Disco Bandit at the moment :D

-Sometimes D&D; sometimes LARPing; I still haven't *really* gotten the hang of roleplaying in the sense of taking on a character who's not just a thin re-visioning of myself, but I like it in theory and would like to get better.

-Knytt Stories and some of its fan-made expansions (like Gaia) are so much fun and so pretty

That's the majority of what I care about at the moment. I tend to be a jack-of-all-trades sort of person in whatever I do, and gaming is no exception, so I'm always on the lookout for something new and shiny :)

Hello, my name's Ayabie and oh man, I first started playin' video games on an Atari. I think my first games were like Pitfall or Frogger. I think it's so cool how far games have come since way back when. Well, mainly now I play a lot of survival horror like Silent Hill and the Fatal Frame series. And I do play some rpgs like Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Folklore, the King's Field series, etc. etc. Oh yeah and FFXII.

I've been playing games ever since I can remember. The first ones I remember were on the Atari, although the memories of Pitfall are the strongest. I could just never get past that first pit...

I got my first Nintendo of my very own when I was seven years old and that was that. Growing up I was obsessed with Mario and The Legend of Zelda, although I had a very special place for others such as Goonies and Faxanadu.

These days I'm a huge fan of Biohazard (Resident Evil). I also like games such as Final Fantasy, Higurashi no Naku koro ni, Bully, Silent Hill... just about anything, really.

I love games, but I really don't play them as much as I used to anymore :(

I know this is a bit late, but I've only recently joined Dreamwidth & found the community :)

My Dad has always been into PCs so I grew up playing Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem and the Ultima series. These days (at 23) I have a Ps2, GameCube, Xbox 360 and a DS as well. I mostly play RPGs (Ultima, Kingdom Hearts, Fable, Final Fantasy & Zelda, as well as stuff like Diablo 2, Balder's Gate and NWN), but will dip into strategy games (Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, Dungeon Keeper), shoot em ups (Unreal Tournament, Quake) and a few platforms (Prince of Persia, Spyro, Tomb Raider) as well - really a wide mix of stuff! Heh, Pokemon is also a guilty pleasure. (I have them all, they are addictive!)

Otherwise I finished uni last year (studied history), enjoy reading, listening to music (rock/metal mostly) and going to gigs. I also love horse riding but I'm currently unemployed so can't afford to do it at the moment. :( (But does mean I have lots of time for gaming/reading/watching films, on the plus side.)

Anyway, I look forward to meeting lots of others who are into similar stuff. :)
