Please tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into gaming, a bit about yourself, what your favourite games are. Let's get comfortable and get to know each other!
Well I started Old School. Played my first D&D campaign when I was 8 (actually it was AD&D) and still play when I can find people to game with. My first games (and still old favourites) were the Eye of the Beholder series and Civilisation. I'm still hooked on EoB even though I have to play it in DosBox (which on VISTA is a pain). I mostly love fantasy RPGs like Neverwinter Nights, Guild Wars, Sacred 2, etc, but occasionally dabble in turn-based strategy games like Civilization or real time strategies like Age of Empires.
I was pretty behind the times with consoles, but I have a shiny xBox 360 now and am addicted to Lips, Guitar Hero, Oblivion, Naruto, Fable II, Assassin's Creed.
It looks like we have a lot of RPG fans here, so at least it seems like there's a lot in common. Welcoem to the group!
I've heard that Vista is a pain for gaming from a few different people. I just started with PC gaming (I was previously mostly console-based), and on Win7 it seems to go pretty well. I'm only playing Steam games, though, so it's not like I'm very varied in my experience there. I was just looking at GW the other day though because it had been added to Steam. What's your favourite out of all of those?
I really enjoy Lips. If you'd like to add me as a friend, my gamertag is the same as on here. Maybe we can do some challenges?
The one problem with Vista is you have to be patient cause all too often the high end graphics cards are not compatible. Saving regularly is a must! I haven't managed to get NWN to run on my new laptop yet sadly, but it doesn't appear to be because of Vista. Older games often have issues simply because Vista is not so good at the backwards compatibility.
I think my favourite would have to be NWN, although Guild Wars is a close second, and Sacred 2 is VERY close behind those two. It's so hard choosing a favourite because I love elements of all of them.
I'm not so crash hot at the lips (but I try real hard!), but sure will add you next time I turn on the xBox :D
Maybe I'll check out NWN then. Isn't that the one with three different versions though?
And no worries, I'm not that great at Lips either, but I just have a ton of fun with it. And the other person doesn't actually get to listen to you sing, so you don't have to worry about being self conscious!
NWN has 2 versions. The original game and the second game. There are a number of expansions for the original game, which might be what your thinking of? Shadows of the Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark.
Haha, I have no shame or self-conciousness when it comes to singing :D I was just warning you!
Oh ye gods, yes. I remember people being Very Upset about the new rules, until someone bought a book and we tried it out. After the first couple of combats, nobody complained ever again.
I've played a dungeon crawl to learn the rules, and part of a campaign in the Forgotten Realms. It wasn't too bad, a little boring at times in combat (I prefered 3rd ed). It reminded me a lot of playing WoW or Guild Wars on papers with the styles of the attacks. Sadly due to issues with the girlfriend of one of the guys I gamed with I had to quit :(
I remember playing something in junior high my friend called D&D but there was no dice and I never saw a book. My first game where I created a character and such was Traveller. It honestly looks like you pick/play games like I do, though I don't have access to an xBox 360 for the newer games.

I am lucky that I got the xBox360, otherwise I'd still be playing Ratchett & Clank on my PS2!
