Please tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into gaming, a bit about yourself, what your favourite games are. Let's get comfortable and get to know each other!
I got into video games when I was 8 and my father bought a Nintendo; I've been playign video games since then. I prefer RPGs, and love Final Fantasy.
I got into tabletop/LARP gaming in 2000 when I went to university, and my favourites in that realm are Demon: the Fallen, Mage: the Sorcerer's Crusade, Exalted, and Changeling: the Lost.
I'm not well versed in RPGs, so all I can say is "Welcome!". I've only ever actually tried to play one FF and it was the Rinoa one. I did not get past my first battle, where I died horribly, and was rather discouraged...
My boyfriend is trying to learn how to run Exalted. I'm the test case. I don't mind the system, but it's complex and our normal group doesn't really want to play in it.
We just bought the re-issued Traveller, and people seem excited about that.
Honestly, you can house-rule out a lot of the more complicated stuff. When I run Exalted, I just flat out ignore infection rules, knockdown/knockback, and anything else that seems to detract from the smooth flow of the game. Then again, my gaming group really likes to pick apart rules and fiddle with them, so.
