Please tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into gaming, a bit about yourself, what your favourite games are. Let's get comfortable and get to know each other!
I must admit, I found RE3 to be the scariest of the RE series. I had a horrible time when I finished the game, played the little mini-game you unlock by finishing, and ended up with TWO Nemesises chasing me due to some glitch or other. It only happened the once, but it wasn't fun.
I tried RE5, but got scared. My brother STILL laughs about that.
Seriously, give it a few years, and you'll be laughing - the first RE scared me half to death when I first played it. Now I own a copy of it just to laugh at the LEGO-like characters XD
Aw, that's too bad. I heard Sheva's AI was a lot better on the PS3 version.
LBP is definately one of those games you could buy a console for - even though the PS3 is a wee bit expensive for my tastes - I play off of my boyfriends.
I first played it at a friend's house and found it very relaxing. I have to admit, I have a lot of trouble with the higher levels since I'm not very good at jumping and gliding.
I like Dynasty Warriors so much I want to roleplay one or two of them somewhere, which my serious self thinks is silly because most of them are loosely based on real people.
My boyfriend is trying to learn how to run Exalted. I'm the test case. I don't mind the system, but it's complex and our normal group doesn't really want to play in it.
We just bought the re-issued Traveller, and people seem excited about that.
Honestly, you can house-rule out a lot of the more complicated stuff. When I run Exalted, I just flat out ignore infection rules, knockdown/knockback, and anything else that seems to detract from the smooth flow of the game. Then again, my gaming group really likes to pick apart rules and fiddle with them, so.
I remember playing something in junior high my friend called D&D but there was no dice and I never saw a book. My first game where I created a character and such was Traveller. It honestly looks like you pick/play games like I do, though I don't have access to an xBox 360 for the newer games.
That would require a lot of brainpower/knowledge but who wouldn't want to roleplay as Nobunaga (yeah, different game I know) and like smash on everybody with awesomeness?
I've seen him in action. My boyfriend plays Samurai Warriors too, which I haven't gotten into. I just laugh at the idea of playing Ma Chao and the enormous stick up his you-know-what.
I admit, survival horror has definitely become my 'pet' genre in the last couple of years, though I'm not entirely sure why. I adore games like Silent Hill and Haunting Ground, I fall in love with the twisted settings, the confused characters, the terrifying enemies and the bizarre themes, but I'm actually freaked out by most horror films.
Most of the SH games I love, I feel very little fear when playing them, and I prefer it that way. Like I said, there are games like Fatal Frame which are both enjoyable and put me on edge, but for me it's more about the weirdness than trying to terrify myself. Then again, I guess I must have some level of desensitisation, since it always makes me raise an eyebrow when someone says they're too scared to play Clock Tower. I suppose it's just because I don't really associate survival horror games with being scared, despite the fact that's what they're for. But it's the games that do unnerve me that I tend to be less interested in.
I know this is a bit late, but I've only recently joined Dreamwidth & found the community :)
My Dad has always been into PCs so I grew up playing Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem and the Ultima series. These days (at 23) I have a Ps2, GameCube, Xbox 360 and a DS as well. I mostly play RPGs (Ultima, Kingdom Hearts, Fable, Final Fantasy & Zelda, as well as stuff like Diablo 2, Balder's Gate and NWN), but will dip into strategy games (Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, Dungeon Keeper), shoot em ups (Unreal Tournament, Quake) and a few platforms (Prince of Persia, Spyro, Tomb Raider) as well - really a wide mix of stuff! Heh, Pokemon is also a guilty pleasure. (I have them all, they are addictive!)
Otherwise I finished uni last year (studied history), enjoy reading, listening to music (rock/metal mostly) and going to gigs. I also love horse riding but I'm currently unemployed so can't afford to do it at the moment. :( (But does mean I have lots of time for gaming/reading/watching films, on the plus side.)
Anyway, I look forward to meeting lots of others who are into similar stuff. :)

I am lucky that I got the xBox360, otherwise I'd still be playing Ratchett & Clank on my PS2!
