HAY GUYZ

We have an old PSP and usually we share, but of late my husband and I both want to play a bunch of PSP games. I'm thinking it's time I bought my own. I'm looking at the PSP G0, but I'd like to hear about some first-hand experiences you guys have had. The lack of UMD drive has me going "... er."

Do you guys like the PSP Go? Are games easy to accumulate/organize/etc.?

Thanks!

Since the basic function of a PSP Go--i.e. installing games onto a mem stick instead of using UMDs--can be done with ANY PSP, and seeing as the Go is more expensive than the standard version, my honest advice would be go with the standard version. Especially since not all older games have been migrated to PSN/will be migrated to PSN. For whatever that's worth. :)

(they actually sell "converters" with the ridiculous-huge Go memory chips that make them work with the standard lineup, as well.)

I've had a PSP for...umm...I bought it whenever FFT: War of the Lions came out, so I suspect I bought it in late 2007. Granted I play almost exclusively RPGs, but even with Crisis Core, which is more actiony than the average RPG, I haven't had any trouble with the joystick. If you plan to play a lot of fighters or precision-movement games, then I can imagine it might be a problem, but I've played through three or four full games without any issue.

(Also, I have incipient RSI, and the design of the Go makes me wince. I suspect that, like the DS, it's a bit top-heavy, and that would be awful for me.)

This is kind of late, and I've never touched a Go, but I've never heard anyone who has say anything good about them. The general opinion about them in the gaming community is that it's an absolute waste of money.

Plus, at least with a PSP you can buy UMDs when they go on sale... digital stuff rarely goes on sale.
