This is basically exactly what it says on the tin. A chance to review what you're currently playing, or what you last played.
What are you playing right now/have just finished playing? What platform is it on? What genre is it? Did you enjoy it? Would you recommend it? What's the fandom like? Anything you want to say about the game.
I'm currently playing Final Fantasy IV DS. I played the original, so the story isn't exactly new or surprising to me. I'm currently rather liking the new cutscenes though, that add a whole extra level of emotion to certain scenes for me. For those that have never played Final Fantasy IV, it was originally a SNES game that has been remastered for the DS. It is an RPG where you take the role of Cecil, a dark knight who is forced to abandon his Kingdom because of his principles. The plot seems to be about Cecil going around defeating bad guys and saving Crystals (similar to Final Fantasy III) but Final Fantasy IV also has a love story at the heart of it, and can be quite moving because of it. It's definitely one of the best of the pre-PS ones (just behind VI). It's recommended~

And the story, oh the story! Don't worry I won't spoil you - you play through as Alex Shephard, a soldier discharged from active duty and he returns home to Shephard's Glen to find the town gone wierd, his little brother missing and he vows to find out what's going on. Cue lots and lots of angst - what more can you ask for?!
It's a long game, and the story is absolutely fantastic - very similar to the storyline of the first game. But it really brings together a lot of elements from the previous games I feel. And in my mind, it does a better job! We see the return of some favourite enemies including those freaky nurses, the same mind bendingly difficult puzzles and of course that fear that just makes you want to play on.
Oh and of course, it has a top notch soundtrack by Akira Yamoaka!
I would definitely recomend this game, 9 out of 10 for sure.

just a warning, if you get scared easily, don't play it in the dark before bed...I had bad nightmares last night XDXD

Hence why I probably shouldn't play it, but I probably will anyway.

Play it, and I'll give you a high five! I know a lot of people who have refused to play it because of the fear factor XD

Daytime playing, here I come! (I only ever get to play games on my own in the house though, as my boyfriend isn't a gamer and thus, I'll still end up scared XD)

I've heard The Room isn't the scariest game in the series but I was sooo creeped out, even during the day.

Currently finishing up FF Tactics Advance 2 on the DS - I've cleared the main boss, and have done 293 out of 300 side quests. Those last 7 are a bitch. *grumbles* It's far better than FFTA in terms of both gameplay and story; neither is as good as the original FF Tactics or the War of the Lions re-release of same.
Also re-playing Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4, which is freaking amazing. Not for those who hate the level-grind, and not for those who don't want to carefully manage their game at all times, but if you can do those two things it's absolutely amazing, with rich characters and a disturbing story. (Its predecessor, Persona 3, is equally gorgeous.)
I think that covers most of my active list :)

I have problems with FFT. I think I just don't like the world or something because I have the same problem with FFXII. Or maybe I'm just retarded and can't do tactical battles? It could be that!
I really want to get the Shin Megami Tensei games. My friend plays the online one and has been pestering me to join her on it... I don't mind level grinding so I might just give that one a go. It's £15 at my local game store so... When I get paid perhaps...
(I didn't even try to cover my active list. I have a short attention span so I tend to switch between games too easily XD My active list is actually FFIII, FFIV, The World Ends With You, Golden Sun, Final Fantasy XII (decided to go back to it and blitz through it to see if I can like it any better) and the Sims 2 PSP... XD)

I did not like the MMO as much, but that might be my general distaste for the genre speaking. If you're looking to get into SMT, I personally would recommend either Persona 4 (which I know is out in the UK as a friend there has it) or Digital Devil Saga, which is rather hard to find.
Friend away! Hi! :)

On my current game I've just got Belias but have been gringing like hell and have all the Augments (Minus Brawler for the Auto-Level hint) and now I'm concentrating on weaponry and armour...
I don't like MMOs either (or at least, I didn't like FF11) and so I'm reluctant. I've seen P4 and I can get hold of P3 for the PS3. DDS was quite readily available, particularly in the preowned section, but it'll probably be an amazon job. It can't be as difficult to find as FFVI: Advance I'm sure (£60 for a GBA game?!?!).

If you're going to do both P3 and P4, and you *know* you want to play both, I'll just point out that Persona 4 improved on many aspects of Persona 3, so going "back" to P3 after P4 might be hard to do. Also, P4 takes a lot longer to get started (the intro sequence is loooong), so it's easier to jump right into P3. I love both of them pretty much equally for different reasons, though, so take that with as many grains of salt as necessary XD
Ah, you're just ahead of where I am in my second replay :)
I can see your annoyance if you find FF12 too Shakespearean; for me, I find it gorgeous and I like the verbal complexities, but I must admit I'm also pretentious and a linguistic nerd. So. XD

I'll start with P3 and then move up to P4. My friend got me wanting to play it with the line "And then they shoot themselves in the head" and I was like "Hang on, whut?" XD
I noticed you're a history person. I'm a BA Ancient History major, so you might find my journal interesting when I start rambling about random things I've been researching XD Although there's not much Japanese/Chinese/Celtic history, you never know.

I have enough knowledge of Roman and Greek history to make an ass of myself when I try to overreach my own limits, and a slight grounding in Ancient Egypt. I keep meaning to do more research on Mesopotamia, too. XD
From:

Mesopotamia is my focus and my dissertation is on Mesopotamian/Ancient Near Eastern epic poetry so you'll probably get lots of me whining about ancient Sumerian/Babylonian on my journal XD Greece to me is my favourite European ancient society. Rome... I hate. Passionately. Barbarians the lot of them XD Ancient Egypt tends to be boring at an academic level though, no brains out of noses, mummies or bood of the dead but all how temples were built, the economic benefits of the Nile and memorising kings of nearly 30 Dynasties D8
I've never studied medieval history, apart from at school, and never really anything beyond the British Isles...
From:

I took Latin for six years, and got a pretty solid grounding in Roman history. I find it all hilarious, basically, which probably makes me a terrible person but there you go.
My medieval history obsession was the Plantagenets, basically from Henry II to King John (so, covering the Magna Carta, one of the Crusades, Richard the Lionhearted who was epically awesome in a lot of ways and failboat ahoy in others, and Eleanor of Aquitaine who was pretty badass for a woman in that era). I haven't done much research since graduating. Maybe I should look into that. XD

Anyways, on the DS, I've been playing Drawn to Life. It's a cute platformer type game that I've actually been doing well at. Mario has always been hard for me mostly because you can't really save easily, but in Drawn to Life, it automatically saves your game all the time whenever you color in something or draw something, so it's not as hard for me. I can do one level in one sitting easily and I don't have to do more than one level before getting to a place that I can save.
It's fun also because you get to color in the items that you have to use in the levels like a hang-glider and in some levels, you get to use wings that you drew for your own character, which you can draw for yourself. :D Also, there are objects such as the clouds you jump on that you draw yourself.
As for the plot, it's basically that you're the creator to these cute little critters (at least they look so to me) and their world is being taken over by shadow and one of them prays to the creator for help and your character is created to help them out. There's more to the plot, but in general it's cute and um, I probably need to get further into the game.
The other game I've been playing is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. It's on the Wii, but it's a WiiWare game. That's a cute game too and you basically get to build your own kingdom and also have to run the kingdom and send adventurers out to explore dungeons since you can't go yourself. You decide where the buildings are built and you have to send the adventurers out to get the materials to build. There is also a plot dealing with the young King's father and the Darklord that used to rule there. One of the pluses to this game is that you can also buy extra stuff for the game using Wii Points such as different buildings and extra dungeons.
The other games I have in progress are Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (for Wii), Final Fantasy III (for DS), and Lego Batman: The Videogame (PS2). I'll probably start playing the last one again once I have the time and have unpacked my video games from the car. I've just come home from college and I still need to get settled in.

and resetting when Dogmeat dies. I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, so the setting is perfect for me. I love games that let you role-play as either good or evil (although I wish more games did it like Mass Effect -- you could, if you played it right, be both good and bad, which is more true to life) so it has that going for it, and I love doggies. Yes, all these things are incredible superficial, shoosh. I do enjoy the plot, but honestly I'm having more fun with the sidequests. There are just so many fully formed personalities roaming around in this game, so much stuff to do -- I'm loathe to actually FINISH it. When I exited the vault and stood on the overlook, saw the broken and battered landscape, the half standing houses, the pitched over power lines, the crumbling bridge in the distance, I was awed. Never has a game been so stunning that I literally sat and stared for several minutes before being able to pick up the controller again. So yeah, I like it.
Also playing Lost Odyssey, which is decent enough. The characters are likable and the combat system works without being to difficult. There are enough sidequests and collectables to appease the completionist in me. There's also A Thousand Years of Dreams -- 30 or so short stories complemented with sound and still illustrations that flesh out Kaim as a character. I could stand for more games to do something like this -- I'm a reader, I have no problem with walls of text, as long as said text is engaging. If you like RPGs, it's worth a play.

I didn't like the sphere grid at first, but it is growing on me. I'm getting a bit bored of the cut-scenes though, and I can't seem to ever beat the other summoner who asks to battle you for fun (I've not really found it too challenging so far to be honest, except for those, grr). I'm enjoying it though, despite that. Just wish I could skip the cut-scenes sometimes!

I personally hate Blitzball though, I just don't get it. All my players are rubbish, how am I supposed to ever win anything? I always lose 4-0 or something ridiculous as I'm always against decent players (3 of mine are still level 1?!?). I never play it as it seems so pointless, to me it's just a waste of time :/

The World Ends With You is a great, astonishingly complex game. The gameplay (it's for the DS) is very unique, very fun--you can easily get yourself up to high levels without even realizing it because the game is just that fun. The story is about a loner misanthrope named Neku Sakuraba, who finds himself stuck in an alternate version of Shibuya, Tokyo, forced to complete missions given by "Reapers" or face erasure. As the story progresses, you learn more about why this alternate Shibuya exists, how Neku cme to be stuck there, and who and what the Reapers are. Neku also grows tremendously as a character during his ordeal, and the cast of supporting characters is engaging and often funny as well. I recommend it highly.

I own all the Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia games, and I have no idea why because they infuriate me to no end! I liked the new PoP, where you don't die, you just go back to where the jump started - I wish more games would adopt that method as it saved me so much stress!

I would definitely recommend both, particularly Bully. That game is just so much fun.

I'd definately recommend both games, though I have no idea what the fandom is like. So far I see a few who didn't like the second game at all (purists, every fandom has them), those who like the second game better than the first (the newbies, again, every fandom has them... I like to call them "vii-ites". heh.) and the ones clinging to the blind hope that there's going to be a third game for the PS3. Personally, I think it'd be cool if they did, but I'm not holding out hope.
