Game Suggestions?

Okay, so I'm thinking of saving up money for a PSP so I can play Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but paying that much money just to play one game seems silly so I'd like to figure out if there's any other games I would like to play on it so it would be a worthwhile purchase.

I play mostly fantasy RPGs, but I have been trying to branch out to other genres lately (especially horror at this time). The only genre I avoid as a rule are war games. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but only a few.

Could any of you suggest any games that I might like that are for the PSP? The only systems I own at the moment are a PS2, a Wii, and a DS (along with some older systems) and I'd prefer the suggestions not to be games that would overlap with those systems, though I doubt there are that many if any.

My two favorite PSP games are Wild ARMS XF and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. Both games are strategy-type RPGs and WAXF can border on the corny at times, but it's a fun game. I'm biased towards FFT because it was my first Final Fantasy game when it was released on the Playstation, but I think the overhauled script is worth buying it. (And Balthier and Luso! <3)

Other PSP games I like are Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon and Jeanne D'Arc, yet another strategy RPG.

But don't worry, I bought mine for FFT and Dissidia. :)

I'll be buying one just for Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (whenever that comes out) *grins*. It helps that there's some Final Fantasy titles for it, though. I'm rather tempted by the Dissidia bundle, though I'm not crazy about the silver color.

Ooo. Final Fantasy Tactics. I haven't yet played the PS1 version, but I own it. It's on my to do list. I think I like strategy games, just never got around to playing them much.

Another vote for FFT! I've also got God of War: Chains of Olympus, which is really good (and a lot less action-y than you'd think), but really short. So I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it, but if you can pick it up cheap/borrow it, it's worth playing!
Other than that... if you haven't got FF/FFII on any of the other systems, they're worth a play, and there's a lot of remakes of classics on it - Star Ocean 2 and Disgaea are supposed to be good. Haven't played'm yet, though - too busy trying to get through the stack of DS/PS games I've not finished. XD;;;

Nice to know that there's remakes of classics because I'd like to get a chance to play any of them. I already have FF/FFII for Gameboy Advanced, but the other games I've never played.

Yeah! I mean, I've always been a Nintendo girl, so I simply haven't played a lot of the older PS games, and if I can get them on a new system I have - with updated graphics, even, and extra stuff, sometimes! - well! It's really useful, I think. *nods* Particularly since they're portable, as well, which is good if you travel by public transport like I do. XD;;

I'm newer to video games than most gamers because my mother was not interested in getting me anything video game related, so I never really got into video games until the PS2 came out and I bought a used PS1 with my own money when I was 16. x.x

Okay, technically, I got a Gameboy Color for Christmas before that along with a Pokemon game because I asked for that and before that, an SNES with not very many games and only that one because it was given to me for free. So I have a lot to catch up on.

*nods* Yeah, I know how that is. My parents didn't like Sibling and I gaming, not at all, so we never got many games. But we got a few, and saved up our piddly amounts of pocket money for more, and kept on gaming when we got old enough to be able to earn sommat decent. (Video games are expensive down here, so.) But yeah, anything SEGA/PS/PS2? Soooo much catching up to do.

I have a hard time catching up too because I'm in college and so much time gets dedicated to other things that I just don't have the time to game. :( Add that in with my book addiction which my mother encouraged and my catching up on movies/TV shows, time is limited with what I want to do. ;_;

I second the recommendation for Final Fantasy Tactics: War Of The Lions.
I'd also recommend Monster Hunter Freedom/2, Phantasy Star Portable (although you may want to pick up Phantasy Star Universe for the PS2, for story), Silent Hill: 0rigins (one of my favorite survival horror series, 0rigins is pretty fun imo), Breath of Fire III...

The fantasy RPG genre doesn't have an extensive library on the PSP, at least not when it comes to GOOD fantasy RPGs. It's still a pretty awesome handheld, and so long as you're not against it and don't mind voiding your warranty, a modded PSP can emulate older games that you may not be able to get your hands on anymore. Not sure if mentioning that is allowed in the comm, but eh.

Thanks. I've been meaning to get into Silent Hill, it's just I have such a backlog of games already, especially since I keep getting games. I think I'm addicted.

I can only really recommend one PSP game, since the only ones I've ever played have been ports for the PS2. From what I know, there's really no difference between versions though (except that they changed one character's facial expression), so hopefully my opinion will still be fairly valid.

Silent Hill Origins is something I'd definitely second. It's a short game, but I love it due to the fact that it's basically everything that makes Silent Hill Silent Hill boiled down. The unlockables are also pretty neat, and it's a really enjoyable game.

Adding to the chorus of "FFT War of the Lions is awesome." XD Brave Story New Traveller was a fun, if moderately cutesy, fantasy J-RPG that I enjoyed playing. You might like Yggdra Union, and the remake of Valkyrie Profile for the PSP is supposed to be pretty awesome.

(I bought my PSP just for FFT: War of the Lions and Crisis Core. So. Yeah.)

I bought my PSP for Crisis Core and it's the game I've invested the most time in (and the only one I've finished, I admit I'm not so committed in general). I personally think FF7: CC is worth the investment in and of itself.

However, Tactics is a must-have (even as I'm ridiculously behind in it). I also adore Lego Star Wars (original trilogy). I have We <3 Katamari, though I'm not very fond of how it controls on the PSP. I love the Katamari games, absolutely hilarious and so, so much fun and addicting, but it's far more comfortable controls on the PS2.

I didn't play Silent Hill Origins on the PSP (actually, horror survival games I'm too chicken to play on my own, though I love watching them unfold). I did watch a friend play it on Playstation2 and recommend it. It's an interesting one and relatively quick play.

P.S. I'm going to get Dissidia - I think it's due in the US in August or September? I've been drooling over that since I've seen screens from its original release in Japan.

I have Lego Star Wars for PS2 already (both of them - the third one is of little interest to me) along with other Lego games. I also have We &heart; Katamari, but we don't have Silent Hill Origins though. Looks like we'll definitely have to get the Tactics game though.

Okay, well, a lot of my recs are already up here but...

1) Tales of Eternia PSP - not a bad game, fairly light and 'classic' RPG if you liked anything like Legaia or the like for the PS2. The graphics are a little dated and look like they belong on the Snes but as a game, it's not too shabby. Gameplay is good, voice acting is BAD but can be turned off, story is pretty good and it's convenient for being able to 'put down' or be used to pass time.

2) Final Fantasy Tactics - decent enough if you like strategy RPGs. Personally I don't get along with them too well (not that tactical it seems and I appear to hate all games set in Ivalice...) but it's pretty good for passing the time.

3) Innocent Life - this is a Harvest Moon game. I don't know if you like those kinds of RPGs or simulators (Oh, the Sims 2 as well is on PSP but it runs absolutely appallingly and the loading times are retarded). Innocent Life had my friend hooked on it for about a week (so about 20 hours of gameplay) but after that she got bored.

Of course, Final Fantasy XIII Agito is a PSP release as well, so you have that coming about 2010. As is one of the New KH cames and of course, Final Fantasy Dissidia that is coming out this year.

I need Crisis Core for fandom reasons. >.> Well, also I love FFVII and I doubt it really can measure up to the experience I had with the original game as that was my first PS game and I've beaten it at least two times. <3

I've never played any of the Harvest Moon games, but I sorta want to at least try one.

I don't think I'd get the FFXIII game as I don't have a PS3 to play the FFXIII game for PS3 and I doubt I'll have one any time soon.

Crisis Core was made of awesome for yaoi fans (like me), not so made of awesome for the rest of the fanbase XD Although Cissnei seems to have a few fans...

Harvest Moon - if you've never played one, try the GBA (Friends of Mineral Town) or GC one first as they're cheaper and Innocent Life isn't typical of a HM game at all.

The FF13 game is a completely independent story to FF13 and FF13 Versus and only borrows some of the 'mythology' of the game apparently. Agito is a separate entity (kind of like the Ivalice Alliance games don't link together but are based in the same world). Of course, it's miles away yet so you'll hear more about it over the next year.

Well, I do want to know more about Zack after all. :P I'm not much of a yaoi fan when it comes to FFVII, but I am a backstory fiend and it's just not enough for me to read summaries of the game. I have to experience the game. I also like the SOLDIERS part of Shinra more than the Turks part. I'm not sure if I get the Turk fans all that well.

I'll take the Harvest Moon games into mind - I'm strapped for money until I get a job for the summer. Hopefully it will be at the local game store. >.>
