Another intro

I joined a couple of days/weeks ago. Figured it's time to do an intro!

I'm both a table-top gamer (when I have friends who are interested, at least) and a computer gamer. Generally the latter.

I'm notoriously bad at finishing games. I think the last game I actually completed was Jade Empire (on easy mode). I'm currently determined to complete Portal 2, and trying my best not to play any other game until it's finished. Although... Sims 3 Generations may change that.

I play on all sorts of platforms: PC (for Sims and most Bioware games), Wii (for Mario/Zelda/Wii Fit games), and Playstation for the more adult games (Portal 2, Heavy Rain, Assassins Creed).

My favourite game of all time is probably Mario Kart 64 - mainly due to memories of my student days. I recently got reacquainted to one of gods of the game from university, and he and I played the wii version online with some colleagues. I was mortified to find that he didn't win after I'd bigged him up! I also love Tetris Attack on the SNES/Original Gameboy, later rebranded as Pokemon Puzzle League. Crossing my fingers that they'll one day allow you to buy it through the Wii.

Nowadays I'll probably buy any Bioware game going (love Dragonage and Mass Effect, and can't wait for Knights of the Republic when it comes out - I gave up World of Warcraft several years ago and am looking forward to an MMORG I can get my teeth into - I'm hopeful that combining Bioware with Star Wars will do the trick).

Does anyone else have a favourite game creator?

Well, I think that just about sums me up. One day I might complete a second game. You never know.

/wave hello

My favorite game creator is probably Black Isle Studios, for Planescape Torment (And Baldur's Gate, but mostly Planescape). Though I never actually finished the first Baldur's Gate (but I did finish II- so long, but so worth it.) Of the studios that still exist, the tiny studio putting out Bloodline Champions are my favorites because-- wait, I just did a giant obsessive post about that on this comm already, haha.

Hope to hear from you when the KotR mmo comes out- I won't be picking it up at the start, but I'll be interested in hearing how it is. The hype around mmos is always so huge, y'know?

You will LOVE Portal 2! <3 I did! I played it on PS3 though.

Also, I use to be so good at always finishing my games! It seems that I lost sight of that and just move on to the next game. D:

It's a very fun, simple game. It's just so horrible being stuck on one puzzle for the longest time because one's brain tends to get tired and lose interest. But solving the puzzle also gives us that "ah ha!" moment too. xD

And you're right! My roommate and I finished Co Op for Portal 2 and it was so sad that it had to END! I mean, we were rushing to see what happened next, but dreading the moment it would finish. Games are just so fun sometimes.

Tim. Fucking. Schafer. Do not front about this, in your heart you know he is the greatest.

I'm also a fan of Hideo Kojima pre-Metal Gear Solid 4. I don't appreciate him trolling his fanbase because he keeps having to make massively successful sequels that make him rich. STFU Hideo.

Company-wise, I grew up on Insomniac Games (Ratchet and Clank and Spyro). I like the trifecta of platforming that is Insomniac-Naughty Dog-Sucker Punch.

And BioWare became my favorite company when DA2's head writer verbally bitchslapped the privileged male gamers about why no, DA2 will not be offering a no-homosexuality options. T'was an epic smackdown. ♥

My already-high respect for BioWare has just increased to amazing levels. THAT IS GLORY. <3

Ugh, I think you REALLY need to play the PS2 trilogy before tackling the PS3 games of R&C. I'm hoping they rerelease them in HD soon because those games where amazing. TBH, my least favorite of the entire series is Tools of Destruction (which is the one being offered, I think) because it's so plot-heavy that unless you're already committed to the story from previous games... it fails.

Hi!

Mario Kart is basically the shit. Fantastic party game. <3

Ubisoft basically owns my soul for Assassin's Creed. *__* And the Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy is one of my favorites of all time, so I've loved Ubisoft for a while as well.

Haha, I never really paid attention to who made what games unless I liked them. XD

PORTAL 2 IS AMAZING. I've been massively into it recently and just...I love pretty much everything about it. \o/

I'm fond of Bioware for RPGs. I loved the Baldur's Gate series back in the day. I prefer the Mass Effect series to Dragon Age overall, but I was really into DA1 when it first came out. I'm super excited for Mass Effect 3!

I just started replaying Psychonauts and it's such a gem, I love it.

I don't think I've ever finished any 'big' game other than Civilisation. Most often, I get so far and it gets challenging, and I cheerfully start all over again with a slightly better build or more knowledge until it gets too difficult again. Or, a new shiny game comes along and I drop the old game for the new.

I *might* go and finish Fallout: New Vegas. I did 'finish' various editions of The Sims, but that's more that you run out of new things to get and do, than that the game itself ends.

I've just remembered that I *did* finish XCOM- UFO Defense and got to the big finale scene and everything. I now want to play that game again. It's so very soothing.

...It's at times like this I love Steam. I have the game in my library already and can be playing it in half an hour or so.
