Hey Everyone!
All Playstation Network customers will get 2/5 games:
What do you guys think about all of this? Did Sony do enough? Should they do more? Has anyone traded in their PS3 for an Xbox as a result of this? Which games will you download? (I already have LBP, so I'm thinking Dead Nation and WipeoutHD for the PS3, and Modnation Racers and Killzone Liberation for the PSP).
For those of you with a Playstation, I'm sure you've heard of all the trouble Sony has had after its network was hacked about a month ago. The good news is that they are back up, and moving towards business as usual.
And to reward customers for their patience, Sony is offering a bunch of stuff, including FREE games:

All Playstation Network customers will get 2/5 games:
- Dead Nation
- inFAMOUS
- Little Big Planet
- Super Stardust HD
- Wipeout HD + Fury
All PSP users get to choose 2/4 games:
- LittleBIgPlanet (PSP version)
- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
I know some people are unsatisfied with that, but I think it's pretty generous of Sony, especially when they are just as much the victim of the attack as us players were. I expect that once the PSN store is finally up they will offer sales too, to help entice us to come back.

Just curious!
Also, I guess I should introduce myself! Ha! I forgot I'd been lurking here and hadn't made an official hello.
So, I'm a 29-year old gamer from Canada. I've been playing video games for practically my whole life - the earliest I can remember is the Ghostbuster's game on the Commodore 64. I remember with nostalgia the glory days of the Nintendo and SuperNintendo: I love the original Zelda and Final Fantasy games. Chronotrigger. Mario Kart. You guys know what I'm talking about.
I ended up switching to the Playstation once Nintendo lost the rights to Final Fantasy games, and have only in the last 5 years been a two console girl: I love my Xbox 360 and my Playstation 3. Oh, and my PSP3000. (I guess that makes 3). I see the benefits and flaws of each console though, and am not a fangirl for any one thing. I need the Xbox for Gears of War, Fable, and Mass Effect, but I also love the PS3 because of Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Heavy Rain (and free access to the PSN so my games are always patched). I find it harder and harder to make time for video games, so what usually ends up happening now is that my hubby plays, while I watch and putter on the laptop. I don't mind so much though because for games like Red Dead Redemption I get access to the story (which is amazing!), without having to do all the work myself. And then when I get the TV away from him it's time for Portal, Splinter Cell,DragonAge, or Fallout3- those are the types of games I need to play for myself because of the a)I want to prove I can do it or b) I want to customize the hell outta my character factors!
I could make a list of all the games I like/played, but I can't remember them all at the moment, and I've got pretty varied tastes. I haven't played much of the modern JRPG's though, but I generally rent everything else that comes out to try it out. The big exceptions would be sports games, and games based on movies (those usually always suck because they're rushed to the market).
Anyways, this seems like a pretty good community, and I'm looking forward to getting some conversations started!

If I find out for sure, I'll add it here.
And yeah: LittleBigPlanet! It's awesome, and if you like it, it's a good intro for LBP2. I saw your earlier comments regarding it, and you don't need to do multiplayer to really enjoy it. But...if you do, it's not like you talk with anyone so for me it's fairly low pressure, so long as I'm following someone else around and they're not following me. As well, you can solo play online.

Too bad we didn't have more of a selection with the PSP games, but I have the LittleBigPlanet one and I enjoyed it. It only has 2 layers instead of 3 (for moving into/out of the background) but I found it to be fairly challenging. I'd recommend it if you weren't too keen on any of them.
Have you found any really awesome PSP games? I haven't had too much luck to be honest, although I don't regret buying it. I have (and have enjoyed) God of War, Flow, LBP, and What Did I Do to Deserve This My Lord2, but I didn't enjoy Manhunt, Patapon, or Peacewalker (couldn't get into it).

I have three other games that I haven't played yet, but I don't have any opinion on yet. I hope I like the Katamari game for the PSP, but I won't know until I see how I like the controls.
As you can tell, I'm an RPG girl. ^^;

I was really tempted by FFIV - was trying to decide if the expanded version would be worth the price, or if I should wait a few months to see if the price would drop. Once it hits $20 it'd be a no brainer:must buy!
It'd be nice to see FFVI, or... gasp... FFVIII on the PSP. I always had a thing for Squall.
I heard we might get ChronoTrigger on the PSN, which would be amazing!!! I think rumours were starting about that right before the big crash.
Thanks for letting me know about the Katamari PSP game - that sounds like it'd be pretty fun. :D

I know you can get FFVIII as a PSone classics download actually and you can play that both on the PS3 and PSP, but I think you're more thinking along the way of remake (though personally I'd rather have an FFVII remake - I haven't even beaten VIII yet).

Flow -> Journey!
I'm really intrigued by Journey. Have you heard much about it? I will definitely have to buy it and play it (instead of watching the hubby play it -I don't see it being his type of game).

Although, frankly, if I had either of those systems, I'd probably already own those games, and then I'd probably be yelling about how I paid $XX and I could have got them for free if I'd waited, so I guess it's a lose/lose situation XD

I haven't heard much about the other games so I don't know what I'll get for a second one. As for the appropriateness/quality of the reward, I don't know. I don't use my PSP's online capabilities much so I didn't notice the downtime. I didn't have any credit info on the PSN and I haven't noticed any issues with my email lately, so the 'security breach' or whatevs hasn't really affected me either.
As a 360 user, I can say these rewards are a lot nicer than the ones we got for XBL downtime XD But, that was not nearly as severe as the PSN issue.
I haven't been following the news about this too closely, but from what I've picked up from places like GameFAQs, most people are worried about a) paying for credit monitoring and b) compensation for Playstation Plus users. No idea what Sony is doing about those concerns, though.

As for the credit monitoring - I think all users in the USA will have free credit monitoring for a year, while those in the rest of the world (myself included)get nothing. Still, from what I've read it's not even 100% certain that credit card info was stolen in the breach, and I haven't heard of anyone experiencing fraud.
Parasite Eve looks pretty cool - that's one I'd heard a lot about but never tried. I just can't wait until the store is back up. I'm expecting a lot of good updates. :)
