How was everyone's Christmas? I ended up doubling my Xbox360 game collection as both the gaming stores I frequent were having sales. I picked up Guitar Hero Van Halen, Guitar Hero Aerosmith and Band Hero as they were really cheap and also grabbed Sacred 2, F.E.A.R., Borderlands, Resident Evil 5 and Gears of War. I am a complete convert to First Person Shooters now. Absolutely loving them.

On the pen and paper front I grabbed myself the Exalted Second Edition Handbook and the Scroll of the Monk from BookDepository as I'm running a campaign this year. It'll be on and off until Uni ends for the year, but I'm already getting the players to create their characters and I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going. It's my first time as a GM (not counting the Exalted pre-made adventure I GM'd) so I'm really looking forward to it!

Not looking forward to Wednesday when I'm back and work and then Uni the week after as that'll seriously cramp my gaming time. What's everyone else playing this Christmas/holiday season?

I didn't get a ton of games, but I did get Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, which is deceptively more difficult than its cuteness would lead one to believe!

I've been playing a lot of that, and am still in the middle of a Final Fantasy XII game.

Am considering playing along with the FF7 replay going on over at LJ.

4 Heroes of Light! I find the bosses the hardest (as it should be, but I dunno if it's just me, but the difficulty ramp goes right up, compared to the general monsters). I still need to figure out how to beat the final boss so I can actually finish it. Good luck with your play through!

I logged, uh, close to 50h on Dragon Quest 9. Not finished yet, though. It's so cute. And nicely streamlined compared to previously DQ iterations :) aaand that'll be it for quite a while -- I did consider pre-ordering the special edition Dragon Age, but I don't know the system requirements yet (loathe to play it on console, DA:O worked so well as a PC game.) ugh, new games, so expensive -_-;

oh and I started a replay of the Super Nintendo Secret of Mana with my sis for shits and giggles. That game is so adorably ridiculous :3

I didn't get any games for Christmas, which disappointed me because I had put them on my wishlist. I didn't get any gifts that disappointed me because I love books, but I would've liked one video game at least. So my mother bought me Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 for the Wii to make up for my disappointment. So I'm just counting that as an extra present from my mother.

The main reason I didn't buy myself any video games with my Christmas money (and graduation money) was because the majority of it went toward a Sony Reader.
birgitriddle: Screencap of scene from FFVII - Text is of Aeris saying "Cloud, why don't you dress up like a girl? It's the only way." (FFVII - Why don't you Cloud?)

I already love the Lego games in general, so I can't wait to play it. However, I am unfortunately too busy with important stuff at the moment to get lost in awesome video games. But it's on my to play soon list.

I think one of the best things about my e-reader is that I realized last night that I can upload .txt files to it and so uh, I can carry stuff from gamefaqs.com on it and not have my computer open all the time when playing games, particularly my portable ones. >.>

Uh, yeah, I play while following a walk-through because I'm a completionist and I play for the story and a walk-through still won't play the game for you. It just tells you how to do it and you're the one who still has to pull off the tricks. I'm not really a hardcore gamer that needs to go through without any help whatsoever.

I bought Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne in November, but I only got around to playing it over my Xmas holiday. I haven't got very far yet (just about to hit the game's That One Boss), but it's growing on me. Before that I was playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time on my DS, which horribly cute and as addictive as...an addictive thing.

There do, from the comments I see above me. Ugh, I'm so glad I'm not studying any more, I'd be failing miserably if I was... ;)

That sounds like a really sensible thing to do.
