Meanwhile, I'm going to upgrade my D&D 4e campaign to 5e. We're using Roll20 because I moved away from the main group. Still some kinks to be worked out, but combat should go much quicker.
As long as you're switching to a new system, have you tried Dungeon World? I feel like in many ways, it does a better job of being D&D than D&D itself does. At least, if your memories of D&D involve the exciting stories and descriptions of terrible dice rolls.
I understand the desire to switch away from 4e, though, especially for online and especially with Insider being closed off to new subscribers. Its combat was really fun, but also really involved, and I felt pressured to make sure the set pieces I planned showed up in the game.
I think Strike! is supposed to be a distillation of what was cool about 4e, without all the bookkeeping and cognitive overhead?
