Sometimes I find myself imagining a headcanon where the character's actually female, or where I'm someone separate from the main character. I prefer not to have to, though.
It's weird because I didn't always notice this when I was male-presenting. I think it's partly because guys are assumed to be genderless defaults. I do know I had trouble sympathizing with really stereotypically masculine characters though, like every male human in World of Warcraft. :P I mean, it's great that they let you play a burly mage, but there's no option not to if he's male.
