As someone with a BA in history (who wrote her senior thesis on the role of women in Anglo-Saxon England, arguing that the stereotype of "women were oppressed until the 1970s" is a load of bull), I take exception to "with a few exceptions, they weren't allowed to do anything until about 1970." First of all, not really. Second of all, hello, how many video games are historically accurate? They could have more women in them if they really wanted to. They could even have female heroes without distorting history; I for one would like to see Aethelflaed or Boudicca as the protagonist of a game (although, like the guy points out, she would probably be disproportionately large-breasted or half naked... *sigh*).
