Hi, everybody! I was just wondering if anyone played Forsaken World or if anyone was interested in playing? I wanted to ask because I think it's always more fun to play with DW friends XD It's a free MMORPG by Perfect World. Here's a trailer:
THE VERDICT: So far, I love it! It's pretty damn fun and REALLY detailed, especially for a game that's free. I have very few complaints, most of which are caused by some of the players (trolls, for example), but overall it has awesome gameplay. I know a lot of people compare it to World of Warcraft. I haven't played WoW yet but maybe someday when I get a computer that doesn't have an antique processor, I'll give it a whirl. If anyone else plays (or wants to play), you can add me! I'm on the server [US East] Eyrda PvP and my handle is Jodis [^_^] Look for the awesome Level 33 Elf-Bard :D It's a free MMORPG so if you plan on playing, lemony know your handle name and I shall add you right away ;D
ABOUT SUB-CLASSES: In addition to picking a class, you can also choose a "subdivision" under your talent tree (I don't know the formal term for it). For example, I'm a Bard. In my talent tree, I can choose to be a Water-Bard (focuses mainly on offensive skills), Wind-Bard (buff and debuffs), or a Light-Bard (healing, offensive, and some buffs/debuffs; aka me :D). Since I'm positive all classes have talent trees, you will have three to choose from.
NOTE: These are real pictures of the characters from the gameplay (some have Photoshopped backgrounds); the graphics are AMAZING. The screenshots of the Bard, Assassin, and the Priest are my characters: Jodis, Brynhildar, and Balthiera respectively. I wanted to name Balthiera after Fran from Final Fantasy XII (icon) but Fran was taken as well as other pretty variations of the name so I chose Balthiera.
NOTE-NOTE: Skin colors, tattoos, hair, and everything can be customized upon creation :)

THE ASSASSIN: Purely close-range combat specialist. Sneaky, agile, and can literally become invisible. It's one of my favorites just because they're so fast and sneaky but it quickly became dull because you expect Assassins to be agile and sneaky. Every MMO I've played, I've been Assassins so I needed me some strange. However, don't let that discourage you from playing the Assassin! You definitely should, especially if you like close-combat and you like feeling like a ninja. (this has nothing to do with any of this but, any time I want to spell 'assassin', I think "ass-ass-in" and occasionally, that's how I'll accidentally pronounce it; sounds dirty but it always helps). Only Humans and Kindreds can be Assassins.

THE BARDIS THE BEST: Of course, this is my favorite class. There is a perfect combination of moderate offensive skills, moderate healing abilities, and a moderate amount of buffs/debuffs. It's perfect for me because I personally don't like getting close to hit things and I love healing/buffing others and myself. I read around and the Bard is supposedly a complex character to play and, now that I think about it, they really are. One thing you have to do as a bard is that you have to work around a Treble Clef gauge that gives you buffs by using certain techniques. It's very technical but you can look up more information about it by Googling it. It's really complex, especially when you actually have to use it in battle. I just have to say that if you're more of a hit-'em-and-go type of person, don't choose this class. Only Elves can be Bards.

THE MAGE: Largely offense-based but I believe they have many defensive capabilities as far as I've experienced playing with other mages. You can choose to be a Fire (massive damage, mass AoE, and lots of burning), Ice (Control the battlefield, freeze enemies in place), or Lightning (Knockbacks and stuns, decent AoE abilities) mage with a bit of other elements as well. Only Elves, Humans, and Kindreds can be Mages.

THE MARKSPERSON: Cutest. Class. Ever! This one is probably my third favorite class to play as it is long-range (you shoot with guns) so most of the abilities they learn are offensive. Like the Bard, it is also a pretty technical class. If you like setting things on fire and then blowing them up with a flintlock taller than you are, the Marksman is the class for you. Only Dwarves can be Markspeople.

THE PRIEST: The essential healer. They are one of the most vital members of any party. Without Priests, you're practically screwed. Okay, that's an exaggeration but it's always nice to have someone hanging back and healing everyone while everyone does the dirty business. However, they do possess offensive attacks as well as buffs/debuffs, ranging from water damage to trapping opponents. In their tree, you can either specialize in straight healing power, offensive abilities, or abilities that augment the Priests personal masteries. Only Elves and Humans can be Priests.

THE PROTECTOR: Everyone, meet Thor. Just kidding. But really, they carry hammers and have incredible strength. Their other name is the "Tank". They can absorb incoming attacks as well as deliver lethal damage. The Protector is normally the one who runs out and attacks ahead of the group, hence their name. Also, the longer a fight lasts, the more powerful a Protector becomes as they absorb attacks! Only Stonepeople can be Protectors.

THE VAMPIRE: I've never heard of a Vampire class in MMO's but I hear they are one of the funnest classes to play in this game (there are also A LOT of Vamps in this game so you might wanna consider that too). They can heal themselves as well as party members, sacrifice health to deal extra damage, become a back-line spellcaster, and even transform into a bat that can breathe fire. Like all the other classes, you can specialize in one of three talents: fire-oriented attacks, an HP battery to help your party survive, or a front-line damage dealer. Only Kindreds can be Vampires.

THE WARRIOR: The warrior is a melee combat specialist and plenty of offensive abilities for you to choose from as you level up. Personally, it's one of my least favorite classes to play (if you don't include the Protector class) because I'm not a melee-type of person unless I'm playing Left 4 Dead. However, I love playing with Warriors because every group needs a combat specialist XD Only Elves and Humans can be Warriors.
DOWNLOAD: There are 2 ways -
STEAM SITE (click for visuals)
1) Go to the Steam site, register for an account if you don't have one already, and install. It's free. NOTE: Be on the computer you use most frequently otherwise, it'll keep asking you for an email verification every time you switch computers. It'll get really irritating.
2) When you open it up after you're all logged in, go to Store, type forsaken world in the search engine, click the one with a Metascore 69, and then hit Install Game. You can also access everything, including the forums, on the Steam website.
3) You can also Pause and Resume installations through Steam and it'll be as fast as a direct download (faster than torrenting), which is pretty nifty considering how large a file it is.
FORSAKEN WORLD SITE (click for visuals)
1) You can get the direct downloads from the Forsaken World website itself. NOTE: Some torrenting softwares you can use are BitTorrent and BitComet.
NOTE 2: There is always a patcher that will appear to ask for your permission; always say "yes" :)
ETA: This game isn't Mac-friendly yet so Mac users are gonna have to wait until they release it for your OS :\
