I completed one of my goals! Getting level 50 in Ranged so I could get the next best dragon armor and ditch the green dragon which is lowest level. :) For some reason, it doesn't feel like my magic defense actually went up much even though I checked the stats and it's a good improvement. Getting it to use against magic damage enemies was the reason I wanted it because they just always hit me without my protection prayer. :(
Still have two more goals that shouldn't take me an incredibly long time to complete:
1. Get my defense to level 70. It's level 66 right now. Might actually take a while now that i think of it because I don't do as much fighting as other stuff.
2. Get my hunter level to 35. I just got it to 29 today hehe. Six levels may sound like a lot, but the defense will take much longer just because it's so much lower level you need like 1,500xp to gain one instead of the 60+k def takes hehe.
The reasons for these is so I will have the requirements to do the quest Summer's End and completion of that will allow me to wield a Blessed Spirit Shield. Which sounds religious, but it's made of coconuts and Monty Python quotes. And shoots rainbow horses out at enemies. And you can sit on it and fly. And... ok, I dunno where all that came from. It's just a donut better shield than my Rune Kite Shield which I've had since level 40 defense which seems like months ago.
Yeah rune kite shield! What of it? The anti-dragon shield most people run around with actually has almost the same stats as an iron square shield (level 1? or 5?) That's why it costs like 300 coins or free from a free player quest. Makes my mind boggle. It's only useful against dragons of course. Oh, the obsidian shield that the rest of them use? Sorry, but it has lower crush, stab and slash defense than Rune Kite. The only thing I remember that's better is its ranged defense. And really the ranged enemies I see all turn to melee when you walk up to them and start hitting them hehe. :P
I kinda don't think anyone looks at the stats of a lot of stuff and they just buy what they see everyone else sporting. They don't look up what enemies they are fighting actually do either. For instance, I was fighting banshees many weeks back and the best magic defense shield I had at the time was actually the Mirror Shield you can buy from the slayer vendor which is needed to fight basilisks and cockatrices. Some dude was like, "Mirror Shield?!" when he saw me fighting them. But uhm... he was also killing banshees and he was using a Rune Shield? I think? Yeah dude, way to bring something useless against magic damage hehe. Nice armor you've got for this circumstance too (all negative magic def pieces.) :P
Oh dear, I rambled on and on. Wasn't my intention. >_>
