Okay, so I saw the post on "What are you playing recently" and started to write a comment about this game I've been busily falling in love with... and it got really long. And I wanted to throw in links and videos and... well, I may as well make it a proper post, yeah?
This game (that I've been busily falling in love with) is called Bloodline Champions, and it is awesome. So awesome guys. SO AWESOME.
Bloodline Champions is an arena game based around the idea of removing grind and gear from competition. All the bloodlines are the same for the pro players and the newbies, from the start to the end. This has the bonus of making it much more balanced than something like wow arena as well. The games are quick- usually three sets of two minutes. The games are really fun- lots of movement abilities and neat combos. The game is built to encourage teamplay, and the occasional lolrage asshole aside, the community is actually really good. I know a lot of y'all are probably like I used to be, more into rpgs and mmos, but seriously, if you don't get performance fright, this game is great for getting into pvp stuff. And it's pretty too.

And the CEO is a woman. I don't feel totally alone in this game, y'know? They spread the fanservice around liberally. I really like the attitude of the game studio in general.
Back to gameplay, here's a video of a Beyond Gaming tournament round between Team Dignitas and Team Orz, showing some amazing well matched games. Dignitas plays double tank/healer and Orz plays double healer/melee, so not only do these matches showcase some amazing players (both qualified for the $10,000 Dreamhack LAN) the pacing should be a little easier to follow for anyone new to the game. Also, the third map of the round, second round, (at 23:34) is one of the most amazing things I've seen in the game, ever. It is intense. :D
But if following energy bars and ultimates, EX abilities, crowd control, and cc is still a bit much, (and it really is at top level) I also recommend Kast's tutorial videos, which will break the game down into delicious little bite sized pieces for you. Even if you take really small bites. Explains what terms like 'EX' and 'Ultimate' are too- very handy. Another good place for guides is GotKunju.com (especially the 'get your first 17k coins quick' one and the noob class recap). That site is a bit of a hub for US players, although of course there are also the official forums. The official forums are full of QQ like any other official forum though, so I don't recommend those unless you enjoy watching drama.
Of course, if you do enjoy watching drama, or think it's worth ignoring to get at the videos and guides also posted on the official forums, you can find me there under the name IfThen. In game, same name. I run a little clan and I'd be happy to play a few friendly customs with anyone interested and give what tips I can for getting started as well. Come play BLC with me!
p.s. Use that link to sign up, and you'll get a 5,000 coin bonus for being referred to the game by me. That's about a third of a bloodline's cost, or enough for an avatar and title if you prefer.
