I don't think there's anything 'softcore' about adventure games, rivenwanderer! I'd like to see any 'hardcore gamer' get the brainpower to solve any adventure game from the 1990s. We've become so conditioned to the concept of the 'tutorial level' that the idea of problem solving beyond 'shooting a rock to have a better vantage point' is threatening.
